Bloomington, Indiana - The National
Intercollegiate Running Club Association hosted
its national cross country meet at Indiana
University in Bloomington this Saturday.
The injury embattled men's team pulled together an impressive 8th place finish out of the 13 team field. Despite their injuries, both Jeremy Brown and Joe Barrera ran strong. Barrera finished second for the team covering the tough and hilly 8k course with a career best. Steve Schilling, a front runner for BSRA, was unable to compete due to a stress fracture in his foot. BSRA was led by Andrew Fritz, finishing 6th overall, earning NIRCA All-American honors. The 5th nationally ranked women's team was unable to compete as a full team but was nonetheless very successful. Liz Hajek placed first for BSRA and a very strong 27th place overall against an extremely competitive women's field. Charra Ballog finished 40th, Emily Perchlik finished 50th, and Emmy Fabich finished 58th. The race was characterized by a new and improved 'run-out'. It goes like this; one person, we'll call him the 'commander' runs out, turns, and yells, "CARDINALS, RAISE YOUR WEAPONS!" Those at the start line yell while raising their fists. Then the commander yells, "CHARGE". The infantry runs out yelling. It is very intimidating.

| BSRA at the 2007 Michigan Fall Classic |
Muncie, Indiana - The Ball State Runners' Association has been busy racing in a number of places throughout the Midwest.
On September 29th, BSRA traveled to Dearborn, Michigan to compete in the annual Michigan Fall Classic, co-hosted by the University of Michigan - Dearborn and the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor. The men's team finished second against 2nd ranked University of Michigan. Andrew Fritz and Steve Schilling both finished within the top 5. Jeremy Brown ran to a new personal best time of 17:05. The women, Liz Hajek and Chara Ballog were strong against a tough field, finishing 11th and 12th respectively.
On October 6th, BSRA traveled yet again to Ypsilanti, Michigan to compete at the Eastern Michigan University Invite. Andrew Fritz, Joe Barrera and Alan Hutson competed well for the men's side. Liz Hajek, Chara Ballog and Rachel Ourand competed well for the women's side.
The following day, several members competed unofficially for BSRA. Anthony Borys and Jeremy Bryson ran the grueling hot Chicago Marathon. Though their times were not quite where they wanted them to be, they were able to survive the hottest Chicago Marathon in history. Congratulations!
Steve Schilling, Andrew Fritz, Joe Barrera and Jacob 'McLovin' Shortt competed unofficially at the Minster Oktoberfest 10k. The race was packed with some of the best racers in the Midwest, including former NCAA cross country and track champion, Boaz Cheboiywo, who was shooting for the $3000 cash prize for breaking the record. The heat slowed down the field considerably.
