Muncie, Indiana - The Ball State Runners' Association is poised to host the Midwest Collegiate Cross Country Championship (MC5) for its 4th consecutive year. The MC5 doubles as the first annual National Intercollegiate Running Club Association (NIRCA) Midwest Regional. We have been working very hard to make this the best club running experience yet.
This year we have upped the ante. The men will be running an 8 kilometer course. Whereas the women will be running a 6 kilometer course. The location has changed, too. The course is located just outside Muncie, IN at the beautiful Cardinal Hills Golf Course. The management at Cardinal Hills has been more than willing to work with us in creating a quality course and an exciting atmosphere. In addition to these changes, we have some very cool awards and t-shirts. There will be music, food, and plenty of toilet paper to insure a sanitary, fun, and exciting racing experience.
The MC5 grows every year. We know that this year will be the best year yet and we want you to be a part. We will be in touch with you. Browse the website to learn more about the MC5. Contact us with any questions.

| BSRA club member, Steve Schilling, on Day 2 of the Great Lakes Relay. | |
Empire, Michigan - BSRA Club President Jeremy Brown, along with club members Andrew Fritz and Steve Schilling, competed in the Great Lakes Relay; a 3 day, 272 mile cross-country relay race throughout Northern Michigan.
This is how it works: You have ten people to a team and three cars. Each team member takes turns running throughout the day while each car is responsible for taking the next runner to their respective leg. Each leg can vary in length, from 2.51 to 11.2 miles. There are anywhere from 17 to 20 legs per day; giving each runner approximately 2 races each day and a total of 6 for the weekend. The course? I rugged mix of trails, sandy logging roads, hills, stream and river crossings, runs along the beach, and a touch of of pavement.
The team of ten call themselves, "Screamin' Squirrels". In total, nearly 75 teams compete each year at the Great Lakes Relay. "The Screamin' Squirrels was formed by BSU alumni Megan Dana. I knew her through some friends and attracted many of the former Ball State cross and track guys to run. The tradition has carried on now and this is my 4th year here. I love every bit of it. I flew from Atlanta just to be here this weekend. It puts the fun back in racing," Fritz said. Former club member Alan Hemmelgarn is also a Screamin' Squirrel.

Carmel, Indiana - BSRA traveled to charming Carmel, IN for the 38th annual running of the Sam Costa Half Marathon. The club represented well sporting our new shirts and BSU jerseys. The only exception was our kid from New Jersey, Justin Crane, who was seen running in the opposite direction on the course. If only that little cloud from Mario Kart was real. Congratulations to everyone who ran! (full results, club results, pictures...they will be coming soon)
Bop to the Top and Groundhog 7 (2/05/2007)
Congratulations to everybody
who participated in the Bop to the Top and the Groundhog 7. Six people
participated in the Bop to the Top. BSRA finished 1st as a team in the
Collegiate division and third overall! Highlight: Jeremy trying to get past the
"Gatekeeper of Mordor". (full
results,
club results,
pictures)
We had a great BSRA showing the next day at the Groundhog 7 in Zionsville despite the extreme wind and cold. Highlight: Tommy and Allen for the finishing kick. Tommy boxes Allen in behind this little old lady for win. Perhaps one of the best implementation of strategic running tactics I've ever seen. Tommy wins the green jersey! 12/10/2006 - MUNCIE TEN!!!
I don't know if you know this or not, but perhaps the greatest
experience any runner could have is the Muncie Ten (The "10" stands for "10
mile"). Indiana's longest standing road race of 40 years (yes, 40 YEARS!) is
cheap ($2), fast, and very very fun. Many of Muncie's finest represented well,
including many members of BSRA. We hope to see
you there next year. Results and pictures will be posted when they become
available.
12/03/2006 - Jingle Bell Run for Arthritis
BSRA showed up at the Jingle Bell Run with 14 runners! It was a very (cold) fun race. Lots of bells and funny looking costumes (including elf's) were present. Megan and Annie turned into elf's. Thanks to all who ran. It was GREAT!!! (pictures, club results, full results)
11/05/2006 - NIRCA Cross-Country
National Championships

club results and

10/7/2006 - UAC Invitational
The BSRA (Ball State Running Association) competed in the UAC Invitational down
in Bloomington, IN. We finished 3rd, beating only Purdue. Indiana and Penn State
had a strong showing. With our full team, however, we should be more competitive
for the MC5 on October 15th. Check out the full
results and
